To kick off my new blog, I thought I’d dive right into the holidays and showcase these festive and delicious recipes. The first one is a Green Bean Parm Casserole.

Ingredients:
2 lbs of fresh green beans
3 cloves of garlic
5 fresh leaves of torn basil
1/2 cup Sweet onion
1 cup of sliced mushrooms
3 tbsp. breadcrumbs
1/4 cup butter
3 tbsp flour
1 1/2 heavy cream
1/3 cup grated parm  & 3 tbsp. grated parm

Fried shallots:
4-5 large shallots
1/3 cup flour
Olive oil
Salt and pepper

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In boiling water, add the green beans for about 3-4 minutes.

Drain and submerge them in a cold water; this prevents them from cooking further.
In a pan and over medium heat, sauté mushrooms and onion in melted butter.

Whisk in flour and garlic.

Include and whisk in half-and-half. Do this until it thickens up.

Remove from heat, and stir in 1/3 cup cheese and next 3 ingredients.

Fold green beans and basil into sauce.
Fill a greased baking pan.
Sprinkle fried shallots on top.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden. Enjoy!
